Can you use those on your hair to make your hair smell nice ? I want to start the no poo method and after rinsing hair with apple cider vinegar, I want my hair to smell nice. Also, can I use an old spray bottle from a previous product I purchased? Do I just clean the bottle with soap and water or I have to disinfect it some other way? Also, how long does the mixture stay good for?
I love to add essential oils to my hair! You can always spray it on your hands and scrunch on the bottom of your hair. 🙂
Hi, thanks so much for the lovely recipes. I’m a bit confused though. In the beginning you state, ‘Start with a 4 oz glass bottle’, to which one adds 30 drops of essential oil. Then with every recipe (which includes 30 drops of EO) you speak of filling the rest of the 8 oz bottle with distilled water. So are the recipes for a 4 or an 8 oz bottle? Thanks so much!
Hi! Thank you for reaching out for clarification! The recipes work with an 8 oz glass bottle. They can also be used with a 4 oz though if you 1/2 the recipe!:)
I hope this helps!
Hi. How long is each spray expected to last? I’m curious because I’d most likely make more than one at a time.
Thank you!!
Hi! It should last around 3-4 months 🙂
hi,
Thank you for the recipes.
I am just wondering will the distilled water mix with the essential oils. Or do I need add something to mix the oils with water.
Thank you.
You can use distilled water and shake at each use, or you can add some witch hazel to help distribute the oils!
Hi. This recipe seems just lovely! I want to know what the shelf life for the spray is. It has water, doesn’t that mean it will have lesser life? Would adding a good preservative help? What would be a good choice for a preservative?
Hi Patty! I use all my sprays within about 3 months of making 🙂
Despite shaking before spraying, all the oil just sits on top of the water meaning you get very little in each spray.
Hi! Did you add the witch hazel to the spray?
Excellent post and wonderful blog, this sort of interesting posts I really like, keep it up…
Hello! I’ve seen other recipes use vegetable glycerin. What is its purpose? Thank you!
Hi! It works to help keep the essential oils mixed evenly throughout. 🙂
Can you use plastic spray bottles as opposed to glass bottles?
I only use & recommend glass since essential oils and plastic aren’t good to be used together. 🙂
Hi, thank you for the recipe, I would like to try and make smaller batches of different scents of body sprays. How should I alter the recipe for 2 oz bottle (60mL)? Thank you so much
Hi! Just simply divide the recipe by 4. 🙂
Good morning! I just mixed up one of these blends this morning using a 4 Oz bottle and the full recipe (28 total drops) but the scent is so mild I can only smell it for a moment after spraying. (Yes I did shake well). Can I safely increase the recipe?
Yes you can 🙂 I would just test out the mixture on a small area before using. 🙂
I’m just about to use water
You can! The witch hazel just works to help keep the essential oils mixed evenly throughout. 🙂
Hi,
Why would my spray be cloudy? I used witch hazel, water & essential oils? Thanks
Hi! It could be the essential oils used in the mixture. Just witch hazel & water shouldn’t cause that. Maybe try a different recipe with other essential oils. 🙂 Let me know if you need anything else!
