Lemon Infused Vinegar Cleaner Recipe
Are you looking for a simple way to make a non-toxic all-purpose cleaner you can use in your home while also saving you money?
I used to always buy cleaning products for our home. I made sure to look for “natural” or “less toxic” options, but then I realized even a lot of brands that claim to be “all natural” really aren’t when you look at the ingredients listed.
That’s why I set out to find my own DIY recipes to use when cleaning in our home. Here’s a lemon infused vinegar cleaner recipe I know you’ll love!

What should you mix with vinegar for cleaning?
There are a lot of options you can use to make an infused vinegar cleaner recipe. Most citrus peels can be used for this recipe such as:
- lemon
- grapefruit
- orange
- lime
Since I had a bunch of organic lemons to use, I’m sharing a recipe with lemon peels.
Feel free to add in fresh herbs such as lavender, rosemary, or mint to your infusion as well if you want!
How do you make infused vinegar cleaner?
It’s pretty simple how to make an infused vinegar cleaner. Simply add lemon peels to a mason jar, cover them with vinegar, put a plastic lid on the jar, and let it sit for at least 2 weeks.
After the two weeks, it will be ready to strain, add to a spray bottle of your choice, and use for cleaning!
It’s that simple!
How-To Make the Lemon Infused Vinegar Cleaner Recipe
This recipe is a great DIY cleaner that can be made at home using non-toxic ingredients, and it is very effective!
1. Gather lemon peels.
Gather lemons together that you want to use, wash them really well, and then peel them.
2. Mason jar.
Add the washed lemon peels to a mason jar. You can use the inside part of the lemon to add to your water throughout the day or however else you want!
3. Add vinegar.
Fully cover the lemon peels with vinegar, and put the lid on tight. You can also add fresh herbs like lavender, mint, rosemary, or thyme to the jar as well for added benefits.
Another option would be to add in some essential oils too!

4. Leave it alone.
Let it sit for about 2 weeks before starting step 5. You can put it in a cupboard, or set it on your countertop.
5. Strain the peels into a spray bottle.
After the two weeks are up, it will be time to strain the peels and add the filtered infused vinegar to your favorite cleaning spray bottle!
You can use a fine mesh strainer or a cheesecloth to filter out the peels and other parts of the lemon.
Important Tips to Remember
Here are two important tips to remember when making this vinegar cleaning recipe.
- Some people dilute the infused vinegar with a 1:1 ratio of water, but you can just add the infused vinegar to the bottle without diluting it as well! It just depends on your preferences!
- It can be used to clean most places and surfaces except I would stay away from granite or marble since it’s pretty acidic.
