Best 5 Natural Ways to Reduce Stress for Moms
As moms, our lives are super jam-packed with all the things. We have play dates, practices, school, work, dinner, and so much more… all the time. That’s why I am sharing the best 5 natural ways to reduce stress for moms.
Can we really find the time?
No one argues when someone tells them they need to reduce their stress levels. We all know it needs to happen. The biggest factor is actually finding the TIME to do it.
In our minds we ask ourselves, “Can I really find the time, or am I just going to be more stressed trying to do one more thing?”
Learning how to reduce our stress isn’t just “self care,” but it’s so important for our health! Being conscious about reducing our stress will not add more stress on us, but it will actually help us to enjoy life more while supporting our bodies along the way.
Best 5 natural ways to reduce stress for moms.
1. Use essential oils throughout the day.
One of the best ways to reduce stress in your everyday life is by incorporating essential oils.
Two of the main ways to use essential oils are by:
- Diffusing– You can add 4-6 drops of calming essential oils into a diffuser or wear a drop or two on a piece of diffuser jewelry.
- Topically– Apply diluted essential oils topically to the bottoms of your feet, temples, or the back of your neck.
Some calming essential oils to use to help reduce stress are:
- lavender
- ylang ylang
- cedarwood
- clary sage
- bergamot
A calming and relaxing essential oil diffuser blend to use is:
- 3 drops Frankincense essential oil
- 1 drop Cedarwood essential oil
- 2 drops Lavender essential oil

2. Take some time for yourself.
Taking time for yourself is so important (even if you don’t feel you have the time). When you start adding in self care to your routine, you will find you are better able to handle the day-to-day stress.
There are so many benefits that go along with taking some much needed time for yourself including reduced stress and being better able to be there for the ones you love.

3. Release “mom guilt.”
I never realized how much “mom guilt” was a real problem until I became a mom. People warn you about it when you’re pregnant, but you just brush it off and think it won’t be a problem for you.
One of the important natural ways to reduce stress as a mom is releasing the mom guilt. Stop reading the mommy blogs, comparing yourself to others, and comparing your kids to other kids.
Everyone is different, every kid develops at different stages, and no one is perfect. When you compare yourself to others, you are comparing only the parts of their lives you can see. Everyone has stuff.. there’s always stuff.
It’s important to remember that you are enough. I am assuming if you are worried at all with the type of mom you’re being to your child, then you are a great mom. So stop worrying, and start realizing that God has chosen YOU to be the mom to your child. He knew YOU would be the best for them, and He has a plan.

4. Ask for help.
As moms we think we can do it all. Sometimes it doesn’t occur to us to ask for help when we need it.
Don’t be afraid to ask your family, friends, or neighbors for help when you need it. It doesn’t make you weak. If anything, it shows how smart you are by enlisting the help of others.
Also, don’t be afraid to ask your kids for help. My son is only 3.5 years old at the time of writing this, but he has a lot of things he does each day himself. He gets dressed (sometimes he needs a bit of help still), he puts his dishes in the sink, and we have even started showing him how to rinse his plate when he’s finished.
I have actually noticed that he LOVES to help me do things around the house, so don’t be afraid to ask your kids for help. It’s a win-win!
5. Get out in nature.
One of the best things you can do is to get outside every day you can. I realize that in the winter this is more challenging, but the benefits are so great!
You can walk, run, jog, take a hike, or just play with your kiddos. Being out in nature has a calming effect, and it’s always a bonus when there is sunshine as well!
