Are you looking for the best non-toxic products for DIY recipes to keep on hand?
Non-toxic living doesn’t have to be hard. There are easy steps to take in order to make a change. The good news is that a lot of DIY recipes can be made with these simple 5 non-toxic ingredients!
Keep it simple.
One of the best things you can do is to keep the simple, non-toxic products at home, so you can easily create a lot of DIY recipes. Once you get started making all-natural products for your home, you’ll realize that most of them involve the same ingredients.
5 Best Non-Toxic Products for DIY Recipes
Here’s a simple list of the non-toxic products to keep on hand for when you’re making DIY recipes at home!
1. Castile Soap
This is such a simple, non-toxic ingredient used in many soap recipes. It’s the main ingredient in my DIY non-toxic foaming hand soap recipe here, and is definitely a staple to keep on hand!
There are many other recipes to make with this simple, non-toxic ingredient including body wash, dish soap, and more!
2. Essential Oils
One of the easiest ways I’ve found to create beautiful-smelling, non-toxic products at home is to keep essential oils on hand. They provide, not only beautiful aromas, but they also have therapeutic benefits!
Just some of the benefits include calming, energizing, cleansing, emotional support, and more!
The most popular to keep on hand and use in DIY recipes are:
- lemon essential oil
- tea tree essential oil
- lavender essential oil
- wild orange essential oil
- peppermint essential oil
There are many others that can be used in DIY recipes as well. During Christmas time, I love adding Siberian Fir essential oil into the natural all-purpose cleaner I make to provide a beautiful Christmas tree scent!
It’s easy to create different scents for each of the seasons as well!
3. Vinegar
Vinegar is not only easy to get and keep on hand, but it’s also inexpensive! It’s a perfect choice for many DIY recipes. This product is also in my natural all-purpose cleaner I use in our home!
If you’re concerned about the smell, then make sure to add some essential oils into whatever recipe you’re creating!
4. Baking Soda
This is a product that you most likely already have in your pantry or cupboard. It can be used in a lot of DIY recipes including detox bath recipes like the ones I have here!
The nice thing about this product is that it’s so versatile and can be used in cooking and baked goods as well!
5. Witch Hazel
This can be used to create all-natural sprays at home! Whether it’s a room freshener or a beautiful spring scent spray, they mostly all use witch hazel along with the other few, simple ingredients!
Here are some great room spray recipes you can create to provide a lovely atmosphere for your home!
Supplies to keep on hand.
Here are some supplies to keep on hand when creating these non-toxic DIY recipes as well. It’s important to remember to use glass containers and jars when working with essential oils.
16 oz glass spray bottles
This is the size works great for all-purpose cleaners! I have two different cleaners (one for upstairs and one for downstairs). One of the things I’ve learned as a mom is to keep cleaning supplies close by with kids!
8 oz glass spray bottles
These spray bottles work perfectly for essential oil room sprays or fresheners! I have a lot of them on hand so that I can quickly whip up a recipe with a new scent I love!
Here’s one of my favorite room freshener spray recipes perfect for anytime of the year!
Glass jars and containers
Since most of the DIY non-toxic recipes include essential oils, it’s important to keep glass jars and containers on hand to store them.
Keeping a mixture of smaller and larger containers works best since different sizes will be needed depending on the recipe created. I like to keep mason jars on hand in different sizes as this works best for my family at the moment.
Here are some smaller jars with lids, and here are some larger jars!
Soap dispensers
We make our own soap, so these are a must. They are one of the most used items when creating DIY non-toxic recipes.
If you want to add essential oils into the soap you create, then make sure to find a glass dispenser. Our favorites are the foaming soap ones! I’ve found they’re easier to use with the kids.
Labels
When you’re done creating any DIY recipe, it’s important to label it! I’ve had some times when I’ve forgotten what the recipe was because I waited too long to put a label on. Now, as soon as I’m finished, I make sure to label it!
It’s not as important with hand soap because that is a pretty obvious one!
Conclusion
These are 5 of the best non-toxic products for DIY recipes! They are great to keep on hand to use for all kinds of different recipes.
There are other non-toxic products that might be needed at times too, but I wanted to share a list of the most basic ones to make it easy for you to have on hand when needed!
