5 Simple Productivity Tips to Help You Work from Home
Are you looking for more simple productivity tips to help you while working from home? Do you need to get more done, but most of the time you struggle to get through the day?
Working from home can be such a great experience, but there can also be a lot of distractions. In this post, I’m sharing 5 simple productivity tips to help you work from home.
5 Simple Productivity Tips
As a mom and business owner, I’m all about simple ways to get more done in less time. That’s why for the past 7 years I’ve been working on finding the best productivity tips and hacks that I can incorporate into my days.
Here are the 5 simple productivity tips to help you work from home that I’ve found to be the most helpful.
1. Plan your day, then work your plan
No matter how you like to plan, I’ve learned that this one simple action can provide so many benefits.
When you have a never ending to-do list that keeps adding up, it’s important to schedule out the to-do’s across each day, week, and month. If not, then when you sit down to work, it can seem overwhelming.
If you’ve broken down your to-do list into just 3-4 tasks to complete that day, then it’s easier to jump in, get started, and not feel overwhelmed.

2. Create a stop list
We have all heard of to-do lists, but not many people talk about a stop list. I would have to argue that this might be one of the most important lists to do each week or month (depending on how often you want to re-evaluate).
What is a stop list?
A stop list is simply a list of things you have on your to-do list that you know you need to take off your plate. There is only so much time in a day, and it’s important to really focus on the things you need to do, you love, or that bring you joy.
Even if you are working a 9-5 job at home, there are other responsibilities or items on our plates. Take a good look at everything you have going on, and if you’re feeling overwhelmed, try stopping a few things.
Along these same lines, it’s also ok to say “no”. You can’t do it all, and no one is asking you to! Sometimes saying no is the best thing you can do for yourself and your family.

3. Create an inspiring work area
I’ve found that creating an inspiring work area has been a huge help in my productivity. When you are surrounded by beautiful things that inspire you, it’s easier to create.
A lot of money isn’t needed.
This doesn’t mean you have to go to Hobby Lobby and buy a bunch of items. I’m all about simplicity, so just grab a few items from throughout the house that you would like in your work area.
You can also make small changes that produce big results. For example, if you have a chair that doesn’t match you’re decor, instead of getting a new one, simply grab a pretty throw blanket, and hang it off the chair. This way you change the look of the chair without having to spend a bunch of money.
Create a space that you LOVE going into each day!

4. Create simple workflows
One of the the best things I’ve done for my business and working from home is creating workflows for all the to-do’s for the week, month, and year!
Workflows can seem complicated, but they are super simple to start using in your own life.
Simple steps to create workflows
All you have to do is write down every single step of a process you have for one aspect of your business. For example, if you write blog posts, then you will have a workflow that outlines the exact process it takes you to complete a blog post. Starting with brainstorming a topic and ending with scheduling your post.
These workflows will look different depending on the task, but they take the guess work out of how to do something. Plus they make it easy not to miss the steps in between.
They also make it easy to schedule out your days, weeks, and months as you’re working on a task or project because they are broken down into simple steps that you can easily add to your schedule.
5. Don’t try to do everything yourself
When you create simple workflows for your job or business, then you are able to ask for help when needed. Someone can easily step in without much time setting them up.
Another tip is to get your kids involved (if you have them). Depending on their age and what you’re trying to accomplish, they may not be able to help with the task, but they can help in other ways.
They can set the table for dinner, clean up after themselves, make dinner, do their laundry, sweep, water the plants, or do any other chore you need done. The plus side to giving your kids chores like this is they will start learning responsibly as well!
