That’s why I wanted to share how to help you simplify using essential oils with your kids, so you can worry less and enjoy more! I know you’ll love this ultimate list of tools and books to make using essential oils with kids easy!
1. Essential Oils Handbook
This is one of my top essential oil tips for people when using essential oils. Having a high quality essential oils handbook at your fingertips is so helpful and makes them easy to use!
There are a couple of handbooks that I’ve had great success with. You can pick which one works best for your budget and family.
- The Essential Life
- Essential Oils: Ancient Medicine
- The Healing Power of Essential Oils: Soothe Inflammation, Boost Mood, Prevent Autoimmunity, and Feel Great in Every Way

2. Essential Oils for Pregnancy, Birth & Babies Book
If you or someone you know and love is pregnant or has a baby, this is the book for you! She has so many great and safe tips for pregnancy and beyond.
I get a lot of questions about which oils are safe during pregnancy and birth, and this book helps make it easy! She also provides recipes you can use to help support yourself and your baby as needed.
I used this as a reference for my daughter when she was born, and it was very helpful to be able to support her little body when I could.
This book makes a great gift for any expectant mom who is into natural health and wellness!
3. Diffuser
When in doubt, diffuse. This is what I tell people when they aren’t sure if an essential oil can be applied topically. That’s why one of the tools I recommend to keep on hand is a diffuser.
There are a lot of great diffuser blends you can use for kids, and the great thing about diffusing essential oils is that not only does your house smell good, you’re also providing therapeutic benefits for your kiddos along the way.
There are many diffusers you can get for your kids and home depending on your budget. Here are my top 3 picks!
- Beautiful and highly rated budget friendly diffuser.
- One of my favorite diffusers we use in our kitchen/living room area. I’ve had it for years, and we love it!
- A more expensive, but beautiful and highly rated ceramic diffuser!
4. Organic Carrier Oils
I made sure to list “organic” because this is so important especially when applying topically to kids. Our goal is to reduce toxic exposure which is why we start using essential oils in our homes in the first place.
Our skin is our largest organ of our body, and it absorbs everything we put on it. That’s one of the reasons why it’s so important to be aware of what we are using as lotions, body washes, shampoos, conditioners, and other beauty products.
Here is a list of some of the organic carrier oils you can use with essential oils:
- organic fractionated coconut oil
- organic grapeseed oil
- organic olive oil
- organic jojoba oil
- organic coconut oil
- organic sweet almond oil
5. Roller Bottles
Life as a mom can be crazy and hectic at times. That’s why one of my secrets is to keep essential oil roller bottles on hand for all things on-the-go! You can dilute a single essential oils in a roller bottle, or you can create blends for your whole family!
There are so many great ways to use roller bottles with kids, and they are also a great tool to use when you start teaching them how to safely use essential oils. My daughter loves rolling her “bedtime” oils on her feet before bed. We are teaching her how to safely use them, and where to apply (and she’s about 2 and a half).
My son is almost 7 and knows what oils to use and when out of his roller bottle collection. It’s such a great option to use with kids without all the headaches of making sure to dilute properly before each use.
6. Have Oil Stations Throughout Your Home
Another helpful essential oil tip I have for moms is to keep oil stations throughout your home. This doesn’t mean you need a lot of oils at each station, but even if you just keep 1-3 essential oils handy in that area of your home, it will do wonders for your family!
An example is to keep bedtime essential oils (vetiver, cedarwood, lavender, wild orange, etc.) in the bedroom, so that way they are right there and ready to go! Plus, when they are out in plain sight, they are more likely to be used.
We have oil stations throughout our home. Most have diffusers, but some are just a shelf with oils on it. I’ve linked a video sharing one of my favorite oil stations in our home which is located in my office. Since my office is where I like to create blends, I make sure to keep them close by for ease of use!
7. Essential Oil Jewelry
This is such a great essential oil tool to keep on hand especially with kids. There are a lot of times they are out and about which means they don’t have access to a diffuser. One suggestion I have for these times is to get some essential oil jewelry they can wear.
There are many different kinds of essential oil diffuser jewelry such a diffuser necklaces and diffuser bracelets. The nice thing about jewelry is you can let your kids pick their favorites, then you know they will love wearing them.
Another great thing about essential oil jewelry is you don’t need to add a lot of drops to get the aromatherapy benefits all day long. Simply add 1-2 drops on your favorite piece of jewelry, and that’s it! You can reapply later in the day if needed, but I’ve found it lasts a long time.
8. Cute Labels
When using essential oils with kids, it’s important to dilute essential oil recipes correctly. That means making your own recipes a lot of the time (unless you get a kid friendly essential oil line that I’ll mention next). This means that you’ll want to make sure you label your recipes when you’re finished, so you remember what blend they are!
Here are some places you can find labels to use:
The key is to make sure you get a waterproof label so it won’t come off the bottle easily.
9. Find a Safe Essential Oil Kid Collection
This is a great option for busy moms who want something super easy to use with their kids. I love this kid collection and use it with my kids daily. The purity and safe dilutions of these essential oils are what set this line apart from others. It also comes with a set of flashcards to make it easy for the kids to learn more about them!
There is no better feeling as a mom than taking care of your family, and essential oils help you easily to do that whether it be supporting their bodies, changing out toxic cleaners with cleaners made with essential oils, or filling our home with beautiful scents that also provide us therapeutic benefits.
