24 Ways to Help When Feeling Overwhelmed
Do you often feel worried, overwhelmed, or anxious? Are you looking for ways to help?
It can be so easy with all the hustle and bustle of life to become overwhelmed. Everyone has different things on their plates, but the one thing we have in common is, if we aren’t careful, we can over-schedule, start feeling the weight of the world on our shoulders, or get worried about the future for our families.
As a mom to two little ones, I can easily slip into the feelings of being overwhelmed. That’s why I wanted to share 24 ways to help when feeling overwhelmed, so you can start feeling better today!
How do I stop feeling overwhelmed?
With everything going around us currently it’s more important than ever to do things that bring you peace and joy. The weight of the world can feel so heavy at times.
The key is to find things to focus on and do that fill your soul, that you love doing, and that put a smile on your face! When you focus on something, it grows. When you don’t give something attention, it starves.
When we take the time to do things that fill us up and that we love, then we don’t have time to let the negative in. Do more of what you love and minimize other things that aren’t as important.
Ways to help when feeling overwhelmed.
Here are 24 ways to help when feeling overwhelmed or it starts feeling heavy:
- spend time in nature
- write a gratitude list of 3-5 items
- unplug from your phone for a couple of days
- read the Bible
- journal
- enjoy time with family
- walk
- hike
- listen to worship music
- spend time with a good friend
- laugh
- pray
- diffuse calming oils (like lavender, roman chamomile, frankincense, or ylang ylang)
- take time off social media
- encourage someone
- help someone in need
- cook or bake healthy foods for your family to enjoy
- learn a new skill
- play with your kids
- go on a mini trip
- create something
- find a support group
- write down a list of things you’d like to do in the next month and schedule them in
- remember that everyone’s journey looks different
Just remember, no matter what you’re going through, that God is with you and lean into Him. He will direct your steps and guide you.
